'RHOBH' Stars Console Teddi Mellencamp After the Death of Her Dog

By Gary Trock

"Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star Teddi Mellencamp Arroyave came home to a tragedy after the Thanksgiving weekend after her dog was killed in an unfortunate accident. Taking to Instagram on Monday, Teddi announced to fans the unfortunate passing of the family's Pomeranian, named after the Khaleesi on "Game of Thrones."

"RIP to our loving, silly and adorable doggy Khaleesi. Our hearts are broken as we have had to say goodbye to you way too soon. Without going too into it-- we were out of town and placed Khaleesi in a place of care where an accident happened. Sometimes things happen out of your control; we our doing our best to grieve as a family while also remembering the good times with our furry baby. We love you and miss you dearly."

Mellencamp, who's expecting her third child, a daughter, with husband Edwin Arroyave, shared a photo of the family with Khaleesi. The dog was regularly featured on her Instagram page with the kids and was clearly a huge part of the family. She recently shared a photo of Khaleesi with Isabella on her birthday.

"Happy 11th birthday Isabella! We love you to the moon and back," Mellencamp captioned the photo.

It's unclear what exactly happened to Khaleesi, as Teddi didn't get into specifics of what type of "accident" occurred. She also didn't mention if any legal action will be taken over the death of the beloved dog.

In the wake of Khaleesi's death, some of Teddi's fellow "Real Housewives" have offered condolences and support via social media.

Dorit Kemsley wrote, "so sorry, so sad," while Lisa Rinna and Kyle Richards also offered condolences in the comments.

"Real Housewives of Orange County" star Gretchen Rossi wrote, "Omg this breaks my heart, sending you all healing prayers ."

The love even came from farther south, with "Real Housewives of Dallas" star Stephanie Hollman wrote "I am so sorry for your loss."

Preparing for a New Addition

Even though Teddi and her family are devastated over the loss of Khaleesi, they're also preparing for the arrival of a new baby girl. Back in September they made the big announcement, and the whole family was ecstatic.

"It’s a girl! Of course, we would have been equally excited either way, as @tedwinator, the kids and I are just blessed to have a healthy baby no matter the gender. Although I did promise Cruz he could help name her so not sure she’ll be too thrilled being called ”Catboy” Arroyave."

Giving Support to Others

Teddi has struggled with pregnancy in the past, and after successfully conceiving, wants to make sure she can provide information to women who may be looking for support during their own journeys. She has been promoting a sponsorship with an app called Peanut that serves as a social network for women to connect.

"Shortly after one of the best days of my life, this smile faded as I dealt with being unable to conceive naturally. Months and months on Clomid (called them my “crazy pills”) until finally having Slate via insemination and then multiple rounds of failed IVF with Cruz— I really isolated myself because I didn't know any other women going through the same experiences. It's so refreshing to see an app like @Peanut provide a community for women who are trying to conceive, as well as expectant women & mothers. I wish I had a network like this during my journey because having support is just as important as when you're pregnant and beyond. I know that being able to discuss my journey with women on similar paths would have made a world of a difference for me. So I encourage any women out there who are trying to conceive to download @peanut and connect with others who can relate to your story. It's an amazing platform to connect, share experiences and find support."
