Emma Chamberlain says she and her fellow influencers DESERVE to be considered A-List!

The YouTuber recently opened up to V Magazine (digitally) about the online hate and backlash she received along with other social media influencers after news came out that they were invited to the Met Gala.

The Met Gala is one of the BIGGEST nights in fashion and includes very high-end fashion at that.

Many people online were up in arms after rumors started to swirl that Emma along with Addison Rae, Dixie D’Amelio and other influencers would be walking the coveted Met stairs.

Despite being invited by Anna Wintour herself to her very first MET Gala, and even being entrusted with correspondent duties for Vogue on the red carpet, Emma faced all kinds of hate online for basically just existing at the event last month.

Most outraged fans took to Twitter to air their grievances tweeting things such as, “And Emma Chamberlain omg that’s so embarrassing. Met gala really isn’t what it used to be anymore,” and “I’m just going to say it, no one wants to see Addison Rae at the met gala.”

Despite what others feel and think, the YouTuber believes she and others deserve a spot at high fashion events.

“In a sense, the fashion world itself has been around forever and influencers and digital celebrities are very new and haven't necessarily earned their stripes yet,” she told the outlet. “I think some people are not ready to accept it as a new form of celebrity, which I totally understand because it's like mixing something new with something classic and it can feel wrong."

While Emma understands that the older generations may never take kindly to her “kind” attending fashion events, she continued to say, “the world of fashion and fame has to evolve in order for it to grow,” and that seeing influencers make appearances at these types of events “is a natural part of that and it only makes sense.”

"When people were questioning my entrance into it, it was kind of scary, but at the same time, I understood where they're coming from. My only hope is that people will accept me into it and let me be a part of it," she concluded.

Many may not know, but the Met Gala was not Emma’s first fashion rodeo.

In 2019, Louis Vuitton flew her out to their Fall/Winter 2019 show, marking a shift in the industry.

She even became a brand ambassador for LV along with Charli D’Amelio.

Earlier this year, the fashion brand tapped the social media stars for their LV Squad and LV Sunset sneakers campaign.
