The Hulu Black Friday deal is back again this year, and it's one of the best offered by any streaming service. This weekend, when you sign up for the service, it will cost you just $24 for the first year.

This deal has been a recurring one for the streaming service, which tries to attract new users by lowering its price substantially on Black Friday. The strategy seems to be working for the platform, which is now owned by Disney.

Signing up for Hulu at this reduced price is a great way to gain access to all of the shows and movies it has to offer, including "The Handmaid's Tale," "Castle Rock," "Brooklyn Nine-Nine," and "The Good Place."

Although Netflix is often touted as the best place to go when searching for things to stream, Hulu has proven itself to be a competitive service. It has plenty of network television, which means that people who miss those shows when they air go to Hulu to catch up.

Because Hulu is now owned by Disney, which just launched its own streaming service with Disney+, you can also sign up to subscribe to Hulu, Disney+, and ESPN for one price. Even though it's under new ownership, it's nice to see that Hulu's still allowed to do its signature Black Friday deal.

There are some caveats around the Black Friday offer. If you signed up for Hulu last year with the special deal, you won't be able to redeem this offer for another year.

Still, for all of you who are wondering whether it's worth it to subscribe to Hulu, now is the time to find out. It's really a pretty low-risk proposition. Hulu has a pretty massive catalog of content, and much of it is stuff that was once on Netflix.

Now that Hulu and Netflix are getting competition from newly emerged streaming services like Disney+ and HBO Max, it will be fascinating to see what combination of streaming services survives into the next decade.

Hulu is doing everything it can to keep itself competitive. Like Netflix, it produces original content, some of which is quite well-regarded. In addition to those shows, though, Hulu also has plenty of older series like "Seinfeld" and "Lost" which fans may want to revisit or discover for the very first time.

Although neither streamer is perfect, Hulu has more options than some may think, and at $1.99 a month, it's well worth the price you'd pay for it, at least for one year.
