Denise Richards Breaks Her Silence On Charlie Sheen's Child Support Victory

Denise Richards is upset by the recent ruling she won't be getting any more child support from Charlie Sheen, saying she was "blindsided" by the situation.

According to reports, Richards is adamant she was surprised by the hearing which took place while she was out of town filming a movie in Canada. Now, the actress is saying she was "caught off guard" and wasn't able to properly argue the case.

"Charlie filed two years ago and kept pushing the court date, so Denise was very surprised that it happened while she is out of town filming," a source close to Denise said. Adding, "She was blindsided. Now he’s manipulating the situation."

As we reported, an L.A. County Court judge granted Sheen's request to lower his child support obligation to ZERO, along with wiping any arrearages which could have been owed back to 2018. Of course, Denise is "very saddened by the entire situation," and claims she learned of the court victory while in Ontario, Canada filming her latest movie, "Wickenburg."

It should be noted, sources connected to Charlie say Richards has been aware of the hearing for the past six months.

Shockingly, the former couple's daughter made huge headlines in this case after accusing Denise of having an "abusive" household after the 17-year-old moved in with her dad. At the time, Sami Sheen posted a video on TikTok with an emotional message, saying, “1 year ago today: trapped in an abusive household, hated myself, would go days without eating or sleeping, insanely depressed, hated school, etc…”

The message was followed up by another video of her looking happy, saying, “Now: finally moved out of the hell house, had a spiritual awakening, own 2 cats, happily single, full of self-love, and dropped out of high school :).”

A Denise source responded to the allegations, saying, "She’s a mom and a parent and there are rules. [Sami] didn’t want to follow the rules. Charlie didn’t support implementing Denise’s rules. He has a different way of parenting and Sami decided to live with her dad."

It appears the situation is getting a bit nasty, after an insider said this is "very disappointing for Denise, but also not surprising." Adding, "Charlie is pitting the girls against their mother, which is horrible."

The former couple shares another daughter -- Lola -- who continues to live with Denise Richards. "She lives with both of her parents and stays with Charlie when Denise is out of town. When Denise is back, Lola will be with her," they said.

As for why Denise doesn't have any say in the situation...according to California law, after the age of 14, a child of a divorced couple can switch the parents they live with based on "custodial preference" -- as long as the other parent's household is detrimental to the child.

At this point, it's unclear if Denise will challenge the court's ruling, but the girls are getting close to the age of 18 -- and, that will trigger the end of payments anyways.
