Greta Thunberg Subject to Insults by Jeremy Clarkson for 'Killing the Car Show'

In an interview with The Sun, Clarkson was given the opportunity to provide his thoughts on a wide range of topics, including how children are slowly, but effectively creating the demise of cars. He's quoted as saying that kids are taught 'cars are evil', becoming spoken words before even 'mummy and daddy'. He further stated, 'Everyone I know under 25 isn't the slightest bit interested in cars - Greta Thunberg has killed the car show.' To be honest, the reliance on alternative forms of transportation has been in the works for much longer than Thunberg has been alive. It may just be that the younger generation is acting as a catalyst for this process, something that apparently is aversive to Clarkson.

While not quite as abrasive as Jeremy Clarkson's take, the co-host of the show The Grand Tour, Richard Hammon agreed with Clarkson's assertion that the younger generation doesn't really care much for cars as the previous did. He states, 'I hate to say it, but I think Jeremy is right. Young people don't care about cars. How many kids now are growing up with posters of cars on their bedroom wall?' There may be fewer pictures of cars on the young people's walls and more Cardi B or Post Malone, but this doesn't necessarily correlate to less interest in cars. Cars are still very much around and utilized by millions of people, even the young ones. It seems to be more of a paradigm shift, though, in what interests them in day-to-day life.

Whether or not Clarkson firmly believes that Greta Thunberg has personally killed car shows and the interest in using cars, we'll probably never truly know. What we do know, though, is that Clarkson, alongside other hosts on The Grand Tour show, has been filmed discussing climate change in detail and making arrangements to segments of the show which will include alternative forms of transportation such as riverboats and bikes. Perhaps, Thunberg has gotten through to them. Bottom line, though, Greta didn't create the demise of a show about cars. It would be more likely that their dwindling audience did.
