'Charlie's Angels:' Drew Barrymore Says She Supported Lucy Liu During Feud With Bill Murray

"Charlie's Angels" was and still remains one of the best sitcoms to ever hit the screens, as it engineered more producers and directors in the industry to come up with incredible storylines that involve two or three heroines.

In essence, this movie showed the world the need to include more women in superhero roles in movies. The film which presently has three installments is proof that 'what a man can do, a woman can do it more sophisticatedly.'

And as in every movie scene or entertainment process, there are bound to be conflicts, but despite what has transpired behind the scenes, the stars of the movie were able to come together in unity and give fans long-lasting entertainment that kept them glued to their screens all day long.

Speaking of internal conflicts, many fans might not know, but in the 2000 part, there was a feud between one of the angels, Lucy Liu and another cast member, Bill Murray. According to another angel, Drew Barrymore, she supported Liu when the actress stood up to her co-star for speaking rudely to her.

In early September, Barrymore opened up about the conflict between Liu and Murray during an episode of her show known as "The Drew Barrymore Show." She noted to the public that her interviewer on Everything Iconic Podcast, Danny Pellegrino, asked her very personal questions that she could not lie her way through.

She went on to say that the questions took her by surprise, but she would share it with her fans to see how she answered them.

When asked by Pellegrino what really transpired between Liu and Murray, Barrymore disclosed that the former stood up for herself when the latter tried to be rude to her. She also mentioned that she had no idea why Murray tried to come for Liu, but it was amazing that the Angel cautioned him immediately.

Barrymore did not speak on whether the pair became enemies after that moment, but in another interview, Liu addressed the aftermath of the feud, and what she termed as important to her at the time.

A few months ago, in July, Liu was interviewed by The Los Angeles Times, and she shed more light on what really happened between her and Murray.

In her explanation, she noted that the cast had just finished a scene, and was waiting on further instructions, when Murray, who was not initially part of them walked in with a tense look. In a flash, the actor started calling her out her (she did not reveal what his actual words were), but it was clear that he did it out of frustration.

Instead of staying mute and letting sleeping dogs lie, Liu immediately rebuked his tone, saying that she did not appreciate his tone or the words he was using on her.

"Some of the languages was inexcusable and unacceptable, and I was not going to just sit there and take it,” she explained. “So, yes, I stood up for myself, and I don’t regret it. Because no matter how low on the totem pole you may be or wherever you came from, there’s no need to condescend or to put other people down," she said to LAT.

In her recent interview, Barrymore told her fans that she respected Liu for standing up for herself and making Murray see that he had no right to speak to her in a rude manner. She also mentioned that she was very supportive of her co-star's approach to the awkward situation.

"I respected her then, I respect her now,” Barrymore added. “I’m proud of us as a team and a company that we didn’t tiptoe on the eggshells. We dealt with it right then and there, we were strong and we moved forward and we didn’t accept anything less moving forward," she noted.

In what seemed like she was giving Murray the benefit of doubt, Barrymore stressed that it was obvious to everyone that the actor was in a frustrated state of mind when he walked in on them, but the fact that he poured his anger on Liu was inexcusable.

One of the best ways to put an end to a brewing feud is to address it immediately it happens, and that was what Liu did with Murray. She told him what he could and could not do, and that was it.

The "Elementary" actress mentioned during her interview that after they wrapped up filming and were past the Angeles story, she saw Murray at an SNL reunion.

According to her, he walked up to her and 'was super nice,' which she appreciated. So, it's safe to say that the co-stars are not in any kind of feud now, and it's thanks to Liu addressing the situation immediately.

Barrymore told her viewers that one of the ways that a workplace thrives, is when people or co-workers learn to respect one another.
