Famous people and plastic surgery are almost like a mix that goes hand in hand in the entertainment industry today. However, there are some instances where a lesson learned from such procedures, is posed to younger generations as a form of advice.

Actress, Jamie Lee Curtis opened in 2019, up to about getting addicted to a drug called Vicodin after she went through cosmetic plastic surgery.

The decision to make this surgery happen, came after staff made a comment about how her face looked on his camera. This is to also say that words can go as far as making someone believe that they need to change something about themselves, in order to be appeasing to the eyes of the public.

Unknown to Curtis, getting plastic surgery was not the only headache she had to face, as she became addicted to Vicodin in the long run. Now, the actor wants younger generations to know the dangers of sporadic decisions, especially when it comes to cosmetic plastic surgery.

What Surgery Did Curtis Do?

"I tried plastic surgery and it didn't work. It got me addicted to Vicodin," the actor expressed her feelings during an interview with Variety magazine.

According to her, after a worker made a comment about her face and how she looked at the camera— 'he said her eyes were too puffy and he would not be able to shoot her scenes.' For her, this translated to 'get rid of your puffy eyes.' Sadly, the procedure left her with a lot more than she bargained for.

Still speaking to the outlet about her experience, Curtis noted that there are several negative impacts of getting cosmetic surgery, and she faced one of them, which was her addiction to opiates for a decade.

Although the "Knives Out" actor didn't go into details about how many times she had to go through the procedure to correct the initial botched one, all she could reveal during the interview was that the surgery not only didn't work, she had to keep taking the painkiller.

This was not planned in any way and could have been easily avoided, had the cameraman had nicer things to say about her eyes.

Curtis Became A Full-Blown Addict

There are different types of addictions, whether it is planned or not— the excessive use of a drug, liquid or substance can easily turn into an addiction. And for Curtis, this lasted for about ten years before she finally decided to give it all up.

It started out when the hospital helped her with the minor routine, and offered her Vicodin to ease the pain for a few days. What was supposed to only last for a few days, turned into weeks, then months and in no time, years.

Curtis continued down this line for many years and revealed that at a point, she became a controlled addict. She cautioned herself not to take any drug until it was 5 p.m. It became worse for her because she was not only using Vicodin to get by, she was also drinking heavily, which almost compounded her problem.

Ten years is a really long time to be stuck on a substance, but for Curtis, it was a piece of cake because she had been previously exposed to drug use.

Curtis Opens Up On Drug Use In Her Family

Still baring her heart out in the interview, Curtis opened up about how some of her family members were drenched in drug use for a long time, including her father.

"I had six siblings. I have five. My brother, Nicholas, died of a heroin overdose when he was 21 years old," she revealed. She further disclosed that at a point, "she 'shared' drugs with her father, Tony Curtis," but he was able to get his act cleaned up after a short period.

Addiction is one of the biggest problems in the entertainment sector and among youths in different parts of America today. There are several celebrities like Curtis who had a face-to-face with the dangers that addiction poses to physical and mental health.

Another celebrity who has gotten candid about how her drug usage almost cost her life, is Demi Lovato. The singer revealed that she was not breathing for a few minutes until she was luckily revived by the medical personnel.

Similarly, Curtis is encouraging youngsters out there to stay away from drugs, and in turn, enlightening people on how plastic surgery is endangering 'generations of beauty.'

As a final remark during her interview with Variety, Curtis could not stress enough how plastic surgery is endangering natural beauty in today's world.

She mentioned that the 'obsession people now have with using fillers, making adjustments to their faces and bodies to look, more appealing, is clearly wiping out generations of beauty.'

For someone who had a horrible experience with plastic surgery, Curtis wants to reach out to the world to stay far away from plastic surgery, especially on their faces. She said; "Once you mess with your face, you can't get it back."
