Leave it to Dave Chappelle to keep a room lit up by making a highly insensitive and controversial topic laughable.
I mean, that’s what he’s been doing for YEARS… so what’s going to stop him now?

Just yesterday on October 4, the “Chappelle Show” comedian dropped the trailer for his new comedy special dropping on Netflix.
“Dave Chappelle: The Closer” debuts on the streaming giant today, October 5!

In the special, he weighs in on DaBaby’s controversial Rolling Loud set in July.
DaBaby compared people living with HIV/AIDS to “junkies living on the street.”
“If you didn’t show up today with HIV, AIDS, or any of them deadly sexually transmitted diseases that’ll make you die in two to three weeks, then put your cellphone lighter up,” he told attendees. “Ladies, if your p**** smell like water, put your cellphone lighter up. Fellas, if you ain’t sucking d*** in the parking lot, put your cellphone lighter up.”
DaBaby stood by his comments and took to social media the following day saying, “My gay fans, they take care of themselves. They ain’t no nasty gay n*****. See what I’m saying? They ain’t no junkies in the street.”
Rolling To The Cancel Club
Clearly his idea of “damage control” is to do more damage. Immediately after his comments and failed attempt at an apology, Dua Lipa removed DaBaby from the “Levitating” remix, and he basically got a one-way ticket to the “Cancel Club.”
Chappelle was able to see the bigger picture of it all and came to the conclusion, don’t make fun of the LGBTQ community.
In a snippet from his special, he says, “A lot of the LGBTQ community doesn’t know DaBaby’s history. He’s a wild guy. He once shot a man and killed him.”

It’s reported that DaBaby killed a man, Jailyn Craig, at a Walmart in November 2018. The rapper claims he fired in self-defense. The case was dismissed and DaBaby was free to go.
Chappelle continued, “DaBaby shot and killed a man in Walmart in North Carolina. Nothing bad happened to his career. Do you see where I’m going with this.”
And just like his new special is called, Chappelle’s closed with, “In our country you can shoot and kill a person, but you better not hurt a gay person’s feelings.”
Don’t hurt feelings
Fans seemed to be divided on the joke with some defending him and others bashing him.
One supportive fan tweeted, “He aint wrong though.”
Another wrote, “Mfs gonna be pressed about this new Dave Chappelle special and I’m here for it.”
On the other side of the fence were many who didn’t take kindly to the joke.
On disappointed fan responded, “i like Chappelle, but this is a s*** comparison,” while another person tweeted, “I’m sorry to say, this new Dave Chapelle special, for the most part, is not funny.”
