There is clearly some major dramz going on over at Buckingham Palace. With the Prince Andrew (or "Randy Andy" as some call him) scandal making headlines every single day now, the Queen is probably sitting up in Buckingham Palace with a major migraine right about now.

It all makes one hope that The Crown will continue on for many more seasons, showing what has been going on behind palace doors in private. Is Prince Andrew getting a stern talking-to from his mother? Is she saying his full name as she yells at him? Inquiring minds want to know!

Amid all the salacious headlines, it makes royal watchers curious about the past scandals the Windsor family has endured, from divorces and toe-sucking incidents to The Queen's "Annus Horribilis."

Though they are still just human beings, the fact that they are royalty makes them very different from you and me. Their position in life (and the fact that their lifestyle is funded by the British people) will, of course, peak the curiosity of just about everyone; we all want to know what goes on at Buckingham Palace.

As we approach a new year, everyone looks back on the past one, thinking about all the things they've done, whether they be good or bad. But, imagine having such a bad year that you would call it an "annus horribilis."

This was the year in which Queen Elizabeth II most likely looks back on as the worst she has ever endured. It seemed everything was getting thrown at the royal family, and by the time New Year's Eve came she didn't have a whole lot to celebrate.

Multiple Divorces And Separations

27 years ago, almost to this day, Queen Elizabeth II gave a speech describing 1992 as a "horrible year." In it, she said, "1992 is not a year on which I shall look back with undiluted pleasure. I sometimes wonder how future generations will judge the events of this tumultuous year. I dare say that history will take a slightly more moderate view than that of some contemporary commentators."

This was the year in which Prince Charles and Princess Diana announced their separation after a barrage of rumors and speculation in the press. It was also the same year when the infamous Andrew Morton biography came out, which we now know was a tell-all book in which Diana herself helped.

Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson had also recently announced their separation after Fergie was pictured having her toes sucked by a man named John Bryan in St. Tropez.

Princess Anne finalized her divorce from Mark Philips.

All this, on top of the fact that Windsor Castle was gutted by a huge fire. It's surprising that The Queen actually made it through that year with her head still screwed on.

The royal family seemed to pick up the broken pieces and sail through 2011 and 2012 on a high after the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton, however, in recent years, things have taken another nosedive.

Will This Year Be An Annus Horribilis 2.0?

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have created quite a PR headache for Buckingham Palace, and they have been criticized for their hypocrisy over private jet use, as well as an interview they gave about how difficult things have been for them (while on a royal tour of one of the poorest areas in the world.)

On top of that, Prince Philip was involved in a car accident at the beginning of the year which saw him flip his Land Rover, leaving people injured, including a child.

Now, amid the Prince Andrew scandal, it seems 2019 was not the best year for The Windsors. Will Queen Elizabeth call this her "annus horribilis" 2.0? Only time will tell.
