Shannen Doherty is fresh off of a HUGE court win involving State Farm Insurance and is giving an update on her ongoing fight with stage 4 breast cancer.
The '90210' star sat down with 'Good Morning America' to update fans on her ongoing battle with the deadly disease. "I never want to operate [like I'm daying], the actress said. “I just want to operate as I don’t have things to check off because I’m going to keep fighting to stay alive,” she added, explaining why she isn't taking part in a “bucket list.”
As we reported, Doherty revealed she was diagnosed with Stage 4 breast cancer in February of 2020, three years after beating the disease and having it go into remission. At the time, the actress underwent a single mastectomy in May 2016.
Shannen Doherty: I'm Living Life, With Family And Friends
The actress explained she is busy "living life" while fighting cancer and is spending "a lot of time with friends and family." Plus, the actress is continuing to work even though she is continuing to fight the disease.
“A lot of people who get diagnosed with Stage 4, they sort of get written off. It’s assumed that they cannot work or they can’t work at their full capacity, and that is not true,” she said. Adding, she finds that working now is "more fulfilling" than ever. "That is something that I would really like for people to stop assuming and give us a chance to prove them wrong.”
Shannen described her current round of treatment, saying she is still in the "first protocol" of treatment which is a "very, very big thing."

She continued, "It’s kind of like you just want to last on your protocols as long as possible so that you don’t run out of protocols."
The health update comes on the heels of a massive win for the actress in her multi-million dollar lawsuit against state farm insurance. A federal jury in Los Angeles awarded $6.3 million to the actress after she accused the agency of failing to pay sufficiently for damage to her house from the 2018 California wildfires.
"We thank the members of the jury for their thoughtful consideration of Shannen’s case," Doherty’s attorney said in a statement. Adding, "This should send a message to State Farm and other institutions that they should not forget they are dealing with human beings."
Shannen Doherty Wins Massive $6.3 Verdict Against Insurance Company For Wildfire Lawsuit
In the initial lawsuit, the actress claimed, "State Farm will take advantage of the vulnerability and distress of its policyholders when they find themselves in the very situations they paid thousands of dollars in premiums to insure against.” Shannen's lawyers blasted the agency in the case, saying, the actress "is dying of stage 4 terminal cancer. Instead of living out her remaining years peacefully in her home, Ms. Doherty remains displaced and battling with her insurance company."
State Farm responded to the verdict, saying, "We empathize with Ms. Doherty’s health and wish her the best. We are disappointed by the jury’s decision and respectfully disagree with it. We will explore all available legal options, including appealing the verdict."
