Ben Affleck Says Playing Batman Is Back To Being Fun After 'The Flash'

Life just seems to be all the more enjoyable for Ben Affleck these days. When you go from begging for attention on Raya to hanging out in the French Riviera in a huge yacht with Jlo, your perspective on other things in life is set to change as well. That’s pretty much what’s happened to Ben Affleck. After the famous “Hello darkness my old friend” gif, Affleck has finally found joy in playing Batman again. This time around he’s playing The Dark Knight in The Flash standalone film, and he had a blast doing so!

Not Getting Into Specifics
Affleck seemed really affected by the lack of success of his portrayal of Batman in both Justice League, and Batman v Superman. Hence, the memes. He became determined to play a bigger role in the production of the movies where he would play the character.
The whole process was weird. Since, at one point he was out of the DC universe entirely. Now he seems to be an integral piece in the renaissance of the franchise. He mentioned, to Variety, on his previous experience working as “The Dark Knight”,
"It was a really nice way to revisit that as the prior experience had been difficult."
Just How Difficult Was The Last Experience?
Ben wasn’t necessarily one of the actors that was overly critical of his time working under director Joss Whedon in the Justice League film. However, his co-stars Gal Gadot, and Ray Fisher were publicly critical of their time with Whedon on set.
With Wonder Woman herself claiming that the now-disgraced director threatened to end her career. Fisher meanwhile was very direct in his criticism of Whedon saying at the time that his behavior had been,
"Gross, abusive, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable"
Not Giving Too Much Away
This time around though, Ben gushed over how much fun he had with Ezra Miller, who plays The Flash in the movie, on set. Going as far as to literally say that he loves Ezra Miller. While then taking some time to joke about potentially violating an NDA when talking about the movie.
We’re not sure if there’s as much expectation for this Flash movie as there is for the upcoming Spider-Man film, but ok. Ben joked,
"I'm probably under some gag order that I'm not even aware that I probably just violated and I'm now going to be sued."
Praising Ben’s Batman
When Ben Affleck was first announced as the new batman he immediately drew comparisons to the most recent take on the character at the time. Which was of course played by Christian Bale in Christopher Nolan’s famous Batman trilogy. Now, Affleck will potentially also have to put up with comparison to Robert Pattinson’s take on the character. He may even face comparisons to Michael Keaton’s Batman. Keaton is actually set to be in the film alongside Affleck. The director this time around, Andres Muschietti, is trying to at least make it seem like his set is not as toxic as Whedon’s praising Affleck’s take on the character. Recently stating,
"[Affleck's] Batman has a dichotomy that is very strong, which is his masculinity—because of the way he looks, and the imposing figure that he has, and his jawline —but he's also very vulnerable,"
Let’s see how things turn out this time around for Affleck. At least if things don’t go well at the box office he can look back on the movie as a fun experience.
