Will Smith is saying what most fans have likely been thinking the last twenty-plus years because many critics believe his film, Wild Wild West just isn’t very good. The actor was featured in a GQ magazine segment on their YouTube channel, where they did a deep dive into a few questions asked online through different social media platforms and one of them just happened to be about the failed modern western Smith made in 1999.
‘Thorn In My Side’

The 53-year-old replied to the Quora question that asked the veteran actor to list his best and worst films. “In your opinion, what is the best and movie of Will Smith?” asked the user probably not ever expecting the actor himself to respond.
“Worst? I don’t know, Wild Wild West just is a thorn in my side,” points out Smith who added, “To see myself with chaps… I don’t like it.” As for what he believes are his best films, the actor picked a few typical choices.
“For the best, I think it’s a tie between the first Men In Black and Pursuit Of Happyness. For different reasons,” he said but did not get into it. “Those are the two almost perfect movies.” Chances are that the latter choice has to do with getting to film with his son Jayden Smith.
Deeper Dive

Smith also answered a few other questions, ones that are more on the lighthearted side. Like what is Smith’s best song. He suggested that “Summertime” is the “best song I made” however, he also pointed out that he wrote the theme song for Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and that could easily be considered his best song.
The actor hopped over to Wikipedia, the website famous for allowing individuals to update pages with new information and correct, if needed, incorrect information. Smith made a correction about getting accepted to a few post-secondary schools but his career was already taking off.
He also admitted that his mother was “working hard” so she could afford college for the artist but he actually had zero intentions of attending any post-secondary institution, he just hadn’t relayed that idea to his mother yet.
Sharing Life Lessons

Fans of Smith have realized how open and honest the actor has become and a Reddit user wanted to know what inspired this period of the actor’s life. Interestingly enough, it’s partly due to a book titled “The Hero With A Thousand Faces” by Joseph Campbell.
He describes the main character’s journey and how it inspired him to want to search for answers and do better. Like the protagonist, he promised to spread his knowledge so, even if it comes off as oversharing, apparently, we can all learn something from he and wife Jada Pinkett Smith’s interesting marriage.
Wide Spanning Career

His newfound openness led to Smith sharing some details about his career. In 2019, the I Am Legend actor shared that he was almost Neo in The Matrix but turned it down to do the western bomb. He shared that he wasn’t impressed by the script from the director/writing team the Wachowski’s.
“I’m not proud of it,” he admitted. “But… Keanu was perfect. Laurence Fishburne was perfect. So, I probably would have messed ‘The Matrix’ up. I would have ruined it, so I did y’all a favor.”
