Blake Shelton was pretty nonchalant when announcing that he had received a Grammy nomination, but apparently Gwen Stefani and her son were caught off guard and couldn't believe the big news! The No Doubt singer shared a cute video on her Instagram Story of 13-year-old son Kingston having a conversation with Shelton.

"Blake, what did you just say?" Kingston asks while the two stand in the kitchen and Stefani records.

"I said, 'Oh, by the way, I got nominated for a GRAMMY this morning,'" Blake responds. Kingston is completely shocked and exclaims, "What the heck?!"

Stefani also included a shot of the Best Country Solo Performance nominees and drew a circle around Shelton's "God's Country." He's listed among fellow nominees Tyler Childers, Ashley McBryde, Willie Nelson and Tanya Tucker.

"The Voice" judge has been having a pretty good run after just scooping up a win for Single of the Year last week at the 2019 CMA Awards. Shelton dedicated his award to the late Busbee and Earl Thomas Conley, two legends in the country music industry who passed away earlier this year.

"God's Country" is a southern rock anthem recorded by Shelton after being sent the song while working on his ranch in Tishomingo, OK.

"I was actually here in Oklahoma, on the ranch, and I'll never forget it. I was actually running a skid steer, and they sent it to me. I was shocked. I had to stop and just listen to this song, because the song was talking to me about a place that I was in at that moment, which was a place in the middle of nowhere that meant something to me that probably nobody else could ever understand, what that is and what it is inside of me and what my connection is to the land."

The song was written by Devin Dawson, Jordan Schmidt, and Hardy. Dawson described the process of the song coming to fruition in an interview with PopCulture:

"We wrote it on a Thursday. Blake heard it, and by Monday he had recorded it. I don't really how those work. I mean, sometimes songs last three years before they get cut. But this one, I just wrote a song that we loved, and it was the right timing, and the stars aligned. And, I got to sing harmony on it, when we were recording, so it's really special for me. I'm excited about it."

After hearing it, Shelton noted "At that moment, I realized, 'I've gotta record this song. And I think I even decided before I even recorded it, 'This has got to be the song that I put out next.'"

What It Means

Shelton revealed, in a behind-the-scenes video, that "God's Country" is meant to be interpreted differently by each person, but to him, it's about being in his home state of Oklahoma.

“'God’s Country' is a song that has a strong and deep meaningful lyric, but at the same time it leaves it up to the listeners’ interpretation. But no matter where you are from or where you’re standing it is my belief that you’re standing in God’s Country. It’s really about a state of mind. Wherever you’re from and how you feel about that place. For me, it’s about being from Oklahoma – where I was born, raised and still live today."
