Famous comedian Steve Martin received the eyes when he mistook Selena Gomez for an acting novice. Before Selena signed up for ‘Only Murders in the Building’, Steve thought that she did not have a professional background in acting.

How Does He Not Know?

The 76-year-old actor-writer seemed to be very well aware of the famous and renowned singer that Selena Gomez is. However, his knowledge was severely hampered because he was completely unaware of Selena's extensive film and television career.

Not until he went on the internet and looked up Selena's outstanding experience in the theater  did he discover her notable acting credits, which include roles in "Spine Breakers," "The Dead Don't Die," and "The Wizarding World of Wizards of Waverly Place."

What could be called a rude awakening for the artist, he came to know that Selena has done more movies than he has! And that she is indeed not an ‘acting beginner’, as he had earlier thought.  “So I looked her up and thought she's going to be young and a beginner only for me to later find out that she's done more movies than I have.”

New Mysterious Crime Show, Lesssgo

Martin and Selena are all set to star alongside one another in a new upcoming series. In an event, when asked how he feels about the duo and working with Selena, Martin replied, "I knew Selena. I always dance to her songs but I had no idea she had a theatrical background."

Steve is the brains behind the enigmatic new series. There's still more to it than that, of course. The best part is that fans will get to see Steve reunite with his ‘Three amigos’ co-star and close friend Martin Short. Steve has always been a fan of crime shows, even though he says that he wouldn’t have people use that word. He prefers being addressed a somebody who is genuinely interested in crime shows. Thin line, right?

So, What Made You Think Of It?

“Actually, I had this idea because I am a true crime - ‘fan’ is the wrong word - but I am interested in it. I’m interested in the solving of the crime. I really like that.” When he talked about if he had anybody else in mind while drafting the series and the plot, it was revealed that when writing the series, he had older actors in mind and didn't expect someone as talented and young as Selena Gomez to step into filling the shoes.

This Is Intimidating

When Selena was asked what she had to say about the upcoming novelty, she said that she’d rather put her all in bringing about a radiating effect into the screenplay. She also talked about how she feels about the cast and what she has in the box for the acting premises.

In a separate phone interview, Selena said, “performing alongside Short and Martin was an understandably intimidating task. They don’t know what to expect from a 29-year-old, and they don’t know much about me. We were getting to know each other.”
