Jay-Z Is The Man Behind Star Studded Super Bowl Halftime Lineup

There was certainly a lot of buzz surrounding the announcement of the line-up of stars who are getting set to headline the halftime show at this year’s Super Bowl. The show is going to feature, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, and Kendrick Lamar. In a half-time show that is getting set to break all sorts of records. The man behind the curtains who actually booked the show is none other than Jay-Z whose company Roc Nation has been in business with the NFL for over two years. 

Many people out there questioned exactly what Jay-Z was doing alongside the NFL to help bring awareness to social justice issues. Which, in his own words, was the primary reason why he and the league signed the partnership in the first place.

One of the biggest pushes that Jay-Z had exerted on the league was to try and help Collin Kaepernick get a job. That didn’t exactly pan out as expected. Beyonce’s husband is essentially moving on from Kap.

While trying to make moves that could justify his partnership with the league. 

Ever since the nipple slip scandal the NFL has made a conscious effort to ensure that their halftime shows at the Super Bowl are always PG. There’s an argument to be made though that there’s no way that Shakira and Jlo on the same stage with those outfits is PG tv! Anyway, the 2004 show featured rappers Diddy, and Nelly, who are both more R&B anyway. The two men though had nothing to do with the nipple incident. However, that moment is credited with the banning of rap music from the halftime show. Thanks, Timberlake! 

As we mentioned one of Jay-Z’s most significant moves in this two-year partnership with the NFL was getting Kaepernick the now-infamous tryout.

Kap ultimately did not want to follow the plan that the league had set up for him to work out. So he essentially held the event somewhere elsewhere only a few team scouts could show up. Those antics didn’t sit well with Jay-Z who has since said about the Kaepernick situation, 

“I think we have moved past kneeling. I think it is time to go into an actionable item … I’m not minimizing [Kaepernick’s] part of it. That has to happen. That is a necessary part of the process. But now that we all know what’s going on, what are we going to do? How are we going to stop it?”    

There’s a large group of people that probably don’t care too much about football, however, would be totally ecstatic to get a chance to see the all-star lineup. Even if it’s just for like 30 minutes. The game and halftime show are set to take place on Sunday, February 13th at So-Fi Stadium in Inglewood California. Here is the official announcement of the halftime show:

Blige, and Kendrick Lamar will take the world’s biggest stage at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, CA on Sunday, Feb. 13, 2022, airing on NBC and Telemundo, and streaming live on Peacock.”
