Scarlett Johansson‘s mother-in-law isn’t a big fan of the unique name she and her husband Colin Jost gave their newborn son, Cosmo.
The hilarious yet shocking revelation was made during Jost’s recent appearance on “Late Night with Seth Meyers.” During a chat with the host, the comedian shared how he and his wife came up with the name.
Jost joked that they were just assigned the name at the hospital, after which Meyers asked how his family reacted to the moniker. That was when Jost spilled the tea.
Although the “Saturday Night Live” writer said his family was always supportive of his decisions, he disclosed that his mother wasn’t totally on board with the name. He confessed:
My mom, I would say, was slightly thrown by it and didn’t quite understand it. I don’t know if she thought it was kind of like a hippie thing.
The comedian recalled that his mother would call them days after their son’s birth to confirm if they were truly settling for Cosmo as his name. In fact, the concerned matriarch even suggested that Jost and Johansson tweak the name to become “Cosimo.”
However, the couple reassured Jost’s mom that the name was final and the certificate was already submitted. Eventually, she came around, but it wasn’t without an external factor.
Jost mentioned that his mom, who stays in Staten Island, finally found closure with the name when she began interacting with her Italian neighbors and found some of them bearing the moniker.
Jost And Johansson Are Parents!
The famous couple welcomed their first child together on August 18. The news was confirmed by Johansson’s reps. Although most of Johansson’s pregnancy was a secret, her husband shared hints about it during one of his stand-up performances.
Rumors also surfaced when Johannson skipped out on events for the “Black Widow” promotion and opted for virtual appearances. The newest addition is a first for Jost and a second for Johansson, who shares a 7-year-old daughter Rose Dorothy with her ex-husband, Romain Dauriac.
Their Love Story
The couple met on the set of “SNL” in 2010 when the Marvel star served as a guest host. However, it wasn’t until seven years later that they began dating in 2017 after reconnecting at a party.
Later that year, in November, the duo made their red carpet debut at the 2017 American Museum of Natural History Gala, but it wasn’t until 2018 that Jost publicly confirmed he had a girlfriend.
The lovebirds got engaged in May 2019 to the delight of fans, and in October 2020, they exchanged vows amid the pandemic in an intimate ceremony in Staten Island.
