The Netflix show “Clickbait” was released at the end of August and instantly garnered the attention of mystery movie lovers.

The drama-filled mystery series had fans raving about the excellent storyline, killer cast, crazy suspense, plot twists, and quality acting. The story of “Clickbait” was inspired by real-life stories, cases of cat-fishing on social media, and internet identity theft.

The mini-series was so good that many fans binge-watched the eight episodes and now have a Clickbait-sized hole in their lives.

To fill this gap, we have curated a list of similar mystery shows that are just as good, if not better than “Clickbait.” This selection was difficult as many series provides just the right amount of drama and spooky to keep fans' hearts racing.

“Collateral” is a British crime drama and mini-series which followed the investigation of a random pizza guy's murder as what the detectives thought should be a straightforward case, unraveled into a twisted and complex case.

In the opening scene of the mini-series, a pizza delivery guy is shot dead, and the detective assigned to the case is Kip Glaspie, who is still relatively a novice at the job.

However, she quickly determined that the crime had precision, no immediate motive and that the victim was of Middle Eastern origin, and this prompted her to make a deeper investigation into the case.

The following episodes then covered the coincidences, complexities and compromises that led to the crime, indicted several British bodies and institutions such as the Government, the military, the Church of England and many more.

The show has a similar pattern of mystery to “Clickbait,” the type of mystery that reveals that things and people are not always as they seem.

“Black Mirror” is an anthology series with three seasons that explores different universes where technology and humanity are twisted-- where technological innovations collide with the darkest instincts of man and have the strangest and often the most disastrous results.

“Black Mirror” tested human instinct and relationships in a manner similar to that in “Clickbait” and has had some pretty big names in acting, featured in its episodes. These include; Miley Cyrus, Michael B. Jordan, and Daniel Kaluuya.

The award-winning British anthology has 22 episodes so far and was created by Charlie Brooker. It has explored a variety of genres, but with a similar feature of every episode being set in a dystopian world and exploring the effect of technology on human behavior.

“Behind Her Eyes” is a psychological thriller and mystery mini-series that followed the story of Louise, a single mother whose life took several dark twists and turns.

The story began when she got into an affair with her new boss, David, at her part-time job in a psychiatrist's office. The plot of the series thickened when she began a strange and unlikely friendship with David's wife, Adele.

What began as a weird love triangle between the three, soon turned dark with secrets, a web of lies, and twisted revelations that evolved the plot of the six-episode series into a tale of suspense and psychological mind games, which culminated in a major plot twist at the end that shocked viewers.

“Behind Her Eyes” is similar to “Clickbait” in the sense that both mini-series revealed that its characters and plot are not as they initially seem.

“Manifest” is a supernatural drama and thriller television series that aired its first season in September 2018.

The plot of “Manifest” follows a group of passengers and crew of a commercial flight known as Montego Air Flight 828, that disappeared on a flight from Jamaica to New York. The plane landed in New York and the people on board had no idea that more than five years had passed and that they were all presumed dead.

The passengers were then thrust back into society, where they were confronted with the lives of their loved ones and the entire world who have moved on without them.

They also realized that the plane changed them somehow as they began to experience voices and visions (which were termed “callings”) that revealed events and connected them as they scrambled to understand the mystery behind their disappearance.

Like “Clickbait” and the other series mentioned above, the plot of “Manifest” uses mystery and suspense to tease the minds of viewers and keep them glued to their screens.
