Kanye West Releases Yeezy X GAP 'The Perfect Hoodie' Collection

Kanye West has been a dominant force in music since 2004 but has also seen the same success in the fashion realm. He initially got together with Nike over a decade ago, to release his Yeezy sneakers. He eventually signed with Adidas, as his Yeezy clothing and sneakers would sell out very quickly, on release dates. Then, in summer 2020, West got together with GAP, as part of a huge collaboration with the Yeezy brand.

Kanye inked a 10-year deal with GAP, as this is a brand that he grew up being a huge fan of. Among the items that the two would agree to put out, are t-shirts, hoodies, and joggers.

“We are excited to welcome Kanye back to the Gap family,” said Mark Breitbard, a GAP brand global exec, at the time. He also called West “a creative visionary, building on the aesthetic and success of his Yeezy brand.

A GAP spokesperson also said excitingly about this collaboration, that this “is an example of leveraging the brand power that Gap has and thinking in a new way about how we can introduce the brand to new customers, new audiences."

Back in June, the first Yeezy x GAP item was released, which was a zipper-less blue jacket. Now, hoodies are being released, and West has added these in various colorways. Among them are black, brown, red, blue, purple, and light brown. These are available on the Yeezy Gap website, as these are called "The Perfect Hoodie." These hoodies retail for $90, as this is a much lower price, compared to $200, for the blue jacket, which was released in the summer.

West is already seeing huge success in his GAP collaboration, and the trend continues for his Yeezy Adidas sneakers as well. The latest is the KNIT RUNNER “Sulfur," which is all yellow and white, which many fans label as having a "banana-like" design. The look of it didn't draw many positive reviews, but due to West being behind the brand, these sneakers sold out quickly, with many buyers not being able to secure a pair, on retailers such as the Nike SNKRS app.

On August 29, West also finally released his 10th studio album, "Donda." That occurred after three delays of this project, and three album listening events. Two were held in Atlanta's Mercedes-Benz Stadium, and the final event was held at Soldier Field, in West's hometown of Chicago.

The album exceeded expectations for many, as it went on to debut at number one, on the Billboard 200 chart. That then became Ye's 10th straight number one, and his first since 2019's "Jesus Is King." Donda contained 27 songs in total, with appearances from Jay Z, Lil Baby, The Weeknd, and more.
