Italian fashion designer Roberto Cavalli passed away at the age of 83. The renowned designer reportedly died after a lengthy battle with ill health.

Cavalli's fashion house confirmed the news of his passing on social media, along with a tribute to his legendary career.

Cavalli's death was announced on Friday via a social media post from his brand's account. Cavalli was known in the fashion world for his unique, bold, and glamorous animal print designs and outfits.

The statement shared by his brand read, "It is with great sadness the Roberto Cavalli Maison participates in the passing of its founder Roberto Cavalli. From humble beginnings in Florence, Mr. Cavalli succeeded in becoming a globally recognised name loved and respected by all."

They continued, "Naturally talented and creative, Roberto believed that everyone can discover and nurture the artist within themselves. Roberto Cavalli's legacy will live on via his creativity, his love of nature and via his family who he cherished."

Tributes have already begun pouring in for the legendary designer. Creative Director at the company, Fausto Puglisi, wrote, "Dear Roberto, you may not be physically here with us anymore but I know I will feel your spirit with me always. It is the greatest honour of my career to work under your legacy and to create for the brand you founded with such vision and style."

He added, "Rest in peace you will be missed and you are loved by so many that your name will continue on, a beacon of inspiration for others, and especially for me."

Sergio Azzolari, the CEO, wrote, "The Roberto Cavalli company shares condolences with Mr. Cavalli's family loss. His legacy remains a constant source of inspiration."

Fans also paid their respects to the late icon, with one person writing, "My deepest condolences to the Cavalli Family. Roberto Cavalli is my FAVORITE designer line and I have nearly 50 pieces of clothing, shoes and accessories from the collection. You will be cherished forever. When you get to Heaven, God will say 'Well done thou good and faithful servant!'"
